Academy Lottery

We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Applications to be entered into our lottery will be accepted through Friday, April 25, 2025. Any applications received after April 25, 2025 will be added to the bottom of the waitlist. The lottery will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Age Requirement for Kindergarten

If your child is five (5) years old by August 1, they can attend kindergarten at Academy Charter School. If your child is six (6) years old by August 1, they can attend first grade. (Other MSBSD schools may accept younger students.) Students turning 5 years old by August 1 are more likely to successfully meet Academy’s rigorous kindergarten expectations and to perform better throughout their school careers

Charter schools have been described as the research and development arm of public education. They are new, innovative public schools that are accountable for student results. They are designed to deliver programs tailored to educational excellence and the needs of the communities they serve

Which charter school is right for you?

What makes Academy unique?

Our K-8 charter school is based on the Core Knowledge curriculum, founded by E. D. Hirsch.
We have increased our school day to accommodate a 105 minute rotating lab and intensive learning formats.
We require teacher subject-area specialization.
We accelerate learning in Math and language arts by grouping students based on their ability.
Language and physical fitness is part of all students education, specifically Spanish and Taekwondo.
We require parent participation, which is vital for student success.

Is my child eligible?

Yes! We are a public school, so all children living in the Mat- Su Borough are eligible.
We have one class per grade, so space is limited. You can register for the lottery using the forms in the above section.

There are a few characteristics of our school we would like you to be aware of, including:

Parent participation is required
Parents must provide transportation to and from school
Parents must provide a lunch for their student every day
